The International Rehabilitation Workforce Alliance is convened

India's rehabilitation field has the demand, the institutions and the talent. What it has lacked is a shared standard. IRWFA is convened to build one.

India trains thousands of rehabilitation professionals every year — occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists, special educators, clinical psychologists, audiologists, prosthetists. They graduate into a field with no common standard of competence, no shared practicum infrastructure, and no governed evidence base. A degree from one institution does not mean the same thing as a degree from another. Employers cannot rely on the credential. Families cannot rely on the care.

A member-governed alliance, not another regulator

The International Rehabilitation Workforce Alliance (IRWFA) is convened to close that gap — as neutral infrastructure the whole field can stand on. It is member-governed and built on a simple architecture: three Councils that do the work — Academic, Clinical and Research — and three Classes that the Councils serve — Institutions, Industry and Students.

IRWFA complements the Rehabilitation Council of India; it does not supplant it. The RCI is and remains the statutory regulator. IRWFA is the voluntary standard, the practicum commons and the evidence base that sit alongside statutory recognition and make it easier to meet.

Anchored, not improvised

The Alliance is anchored by Bharath Healthcare Laboratories (BHCL), operating Pinnacle Blooms Network® — the largest developmental-therapy network in India, with 70+ centres across four states — which serves as Anchor Institution and Secretariat. It was architected by SAṄRACHANĀ, a 32-seat expert consortium spanning doctrine, law, academia, clinical practice, research, technology, finance, government, data, equity and lived experience.

Membership is open now, and free in the establishment period. If you lead an institution, employ rehabilitation professionals, or are training to become one, this is your alliance to build.

Published by the IRWFA Secretariat. Operational figures are forward-facing as of May 2026; patent references are to international (PCT) applications, not granted patents; “largest / first” is stated to our knowledge as of May 2026. IRWFA complements the Rehabilitation Council of India and does not supplant it; statutory recognitions are in process.
