Membership
One field. Three ways to belong.
The Alliance is its members. You join in one of three Classes — Industry, Institutions, or Students — and from day one you stand inside a shared standard, a practicum estate, a research commons, and a credential the field recognises.
01 The three Classes
Find where you belong.
Industry · Institutions · Students — equal standing, no precedence by date of admission.
Membership is organised as three Classes — the constituency the Alliance serves. Each Class receives the benefits of the standard, brings something to it, holds a designation, and takes a seat in governance.
- Institutions — Colleges, universities and training providers. Receive curriculum standardisation, accreditation uplift and a practicum network; bring programmes and faculty; designated Member Institution; seat in the Academic Council.
- Industry — Employers, hospital groups, clinics and platforms. Receive a credential-verified talent pool and a voice in the standard; bring jobs, demand and funding; designated Industry Member; seat at the table.
- Students — Those training to enter the field. Receive practicum, a recognised pathway and a credential; bring the future of the workforce; designated Scholar; voice through the Student Council.
02 What membership gives you
Five things, the day you join.
Whichever Class you join, membership opens the same shared infrastructure.
- A shared standard — one outcome-based competency standard the whole field is measured against.
- Supervised practicum — structured placements across the largest developmental-therapy estate in the field — 70+ centres in four states.
- A research commons — a governed, FAIR evidence base you can publish into and learn from.
- A recognised credential — the Fellowship — Fellow (FIRWFA), Member (MIRWFA) or Scholar — a mark the field reads and trusts.
- A seat and a voice — Councils, the General Assembly and the Student Council — the Alliance is governed by its members.
03 How to join
Three steps. Free, for now.
Membership is free in the establishment period — there is no fee to join while the Alliance is being built. You apply, the Office of the Secretariat confirms your Class and standing, and you take your place in the relevant Council.
